Derek Petit
Founder | Adventure Sports, LLP
Over the last seven years, Derek Petit has had a very successful career as an entrepreneur. Before founding Adventure Sports in 2003, Petit spent a number of years developing and starting businesses in the medical staffing arena. In 1997, Petit helped co-found a medical staffing division for a local staffing firm. Over the course of 3 years, Petit took the company from three million to $150 million in service revenue. In 2001 Petit launched a new medical staffing firm called Radiology Staffing Inc. (RSI). With less than a hundred thousand dollars, Petit and his partners have grown the small no name staffing firm into a national staffing powerhouse. RSI conducts business in all 50 states and is a top ten player in radiology staffing in the United States, generating over $15 million in service revenue during the industry's worst financial performance period in 20 years. Petit is currently the CEO of RSI.
In addition to his business career, Petit has acquired several hobbies over the years, including laser tag. Petit's laser tag history began in 1990 when he worked with MILES gear (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) for the United States military as a Soviet Aggressor in Hohenfels Germany with the ¼ inf battalion OPFOR. Petit used the real world version of laser tag to trail 12 different NATO countries in Soviet-style doctrine and tactics. Petit worked with all types of equipment and vehicles.
After leaving the US Army, Petit worked as a manger for a Qzar indoor laser tag arena in Atlanta, Ga. In the Early 1990s, Qzar was the most advanced and successful laser tag arena system in the world.
In 2003 Petit's interest peaked in the new international phenomenon called Laser Skirmish or Outdoor Laser Tag. Seeing the enormous potential of this new Niche industry, Petit decided to get involved in the sport as an owner operator.
